JEDDAH: MB Stars and Pak Shaheen were off to a flying start in the Ace Travel Premier League cricket tournament, sponsored by Ace Travel and Tours and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
MB Stars routed Saudi Oil by 89 runs and Shaheen eased past Sind XI by 7 wickets. Eleven teams are taking part in this event, which will be played on a round robin format with the top four teams qualifying for the knockout stage.
MB Stars batted first put up a solid score of 187 for 7. Ateeq Mansha scored a solid unbeaten knock of 105 runs. He received good support from Moazzam Virk, Tayyab and Ameeq. Waqas (2 for 39), Sulaiman (2 for 25) and Ashiq (2 for 32) contained them to some extent.
In reply, Saudi Oil were bundled out for 98 Sulaiman (16), Shahzad (17) and Asim (13) managing double digits. Chand Yasir (2 for 31) and Ateeq (2 for 14) bowled with fire.
In the other match, Sindh-XI batted first were restricted to 152. Sulaiman (36), Mohsin (32) and Munawwar (21) batted with resistance while the others succumbed to the guiles of Afzal (4 for 34), Abdul Rahman (3 for 23) and (Faisal 2 for 21).
In reply Pak Shaheen raced to 152 for 3 after 14 overs. Qamar (36), Usman (46 not out) and Ruaidad Khan (38 n.o) sealed victory for their team. Hassan took 2 for 20
