DAMMAM:The prestigious Eastern Province Basketball League is poised to return for its 29th season on March 11 with the tournament exclusively broadcast by GMA Pinoy TV, a Filipino international channel.
“We are gearing up for more exciting conferences this 2016,” EPBL Head Commissioner, Jun Sanchez said. “On March 11, we will start the 1st conference and the 2nd conference will be on the last quarter of the year. This will be exciting tournaments since every participating team in Open League features new caliber players who are former college and university varsities and professional players from the Philippines. Intercompany teams beef their roster by selecting their best players and level up their trainings for the tournament. We look forward to taking part in the upcoming season,” he added.
Teams expected to battle in Premier League will be led by 5-time champion, ARCC Erectors team, the American laden, Dhahran Basketball Association team and the highly fancied Fahd Alireza Engineering Consultants. League B teams which composed of Rated players will be led by defending champion FAEC B team, newcomers UMAC Cargo, Phuket Restaurant, National Pipe Company, PCB Bulldogs and Saipem Snamprogetti.
In League C non Rated Open Division, Bahrain Philippine Cargo, the undefeated and defending champion will mix up against former champion Sharbatly Fruits, newcomers Senddex Express, Luwa Al Jazeera, Alaa Industrial Equipment Factory (AFI) team, DOHA Elite, USG, and Katroopz Basketball team. Two time and back to back champions Arabian Point Eight Power (APEP) Company and Saipem Snamprogetti led the teams in Intercompany with Al Iman Gasket Factory, former champion Al Majdouie, Intercontinental Hotel Group, U & TSD Welcare, Zamil Offshore, Mebco Varta Chargers, Abdullah Fouad, KFHU, Kia Motors, and Extra team.
