Ashok-Janga team champion in Almarai Badminton Tournament

RIYADH : Almarai, the largest vertically integrated dairy products company in the Middle East, yet again demonstrated that how successful companies
engage and motivate their employees through sports and fitness activities.
The sixth season of the Almarai badminton tournament successfully concluded with the final matches and awards ceremony held recently at
the Almarai head office badminton court on the outskirts of Riyadh.
Kaunain Shahidi, a senior manager and chief organizer of tournament
organizer told Arab News on Thursday that the tournament was aimed at
promoting the positive attitude among the employee and enhance their ability.
The finals were best-of-three series format, he told Arab News.
The winners for senior group or level one are Ashok Paudal and Janga Bahadur who defeated Sandeep Kumar and Sanoof by 21-17, 21-16.
The winners for level-2 are Pracha Bahadur and Bishal Gurung who defeated Samir Shaikh and Sawapnil Shetye by 18-21, 22-20, 21-19, whereas the winners for
level-3 are Yasantha and Jayantha who defeated the pair of Mark Arnals and Ronaldo Escabido by 21-18, 21-16.
Chief Guest at the gala evening Ikramul Haque, who is head of the finance department in
Almarai congratulated all the participants and winners saying, “it is certainly exciting to be
part of the tournament finals and watch our talented employee who are
wonderful sportsmen too, I am proud of them.”
“We provide all support to our employees to enhance their well-being
and encourage them to live a healthy life and be physically fit through these sporting events”, said Barathi Mohan, Almarai HR manager, at the gala evening, which was also attended by Almarai employees.
The tournament format was league match type comprising three groups of 14 teams each, said Shahidi adding point based first and second round matches were
elimination round leading to super six matches, where two best teams from each group qualified and top four teams advanced to the semifinal round based on
the maximum points scored.
Expressing their delight champions Ashok and Janga said “we are happy,
our daily practice, concentration during the game and hard work played crucial role especially in the finals.
Besides winners others were awarded too and Yasantha Foneska received the ‘Best Mentor’ award.
