Ways To Securely Catch And Get Rid Of A Gopher In Your Backyard Easily

By Richard Cox

Pests are those pesky animals that cause damage and hassle to human life. Sometimes they are invasive and dig around our property. That is why let us discuss about How to trap a gopher.

In the Midwest, there are many pests there but one of them is gophers. You might not see them on the land because they live underground. But you could see the holes they dig and that commonly is called Gopher Mounds.

When the trap in place, you have to secure it safety lines with stake so the injured gopher could not run away with the trap. Those safety lines could be made from material that the gopher would not be able to cut or gnaw through. It should be metal material like chain or heavy thick wire and it will work well.

It can be done with your own, and it would not cause you an arm and some leg. It might cost the gophers lives because they are the being trap. If it comes to that then one have to choice between what is the most important to you, the lawn, garden, the trees or your personal safety or the gopher life. In most cases the gopher loses its life.

If you dig a larger hole then the better changes that eventually find where the pest stopped filling back. Bear it in mind that it usually takes two tunnels under a pile of dirt. And the mound that you have found is neither the end nor the beginning of the burrow system, it is in the middle.

It depends on activity of gophers that is in the backyard, if it is active then it will only take a few minutes but if not then maybe it will take hours. To make sure that it did not get away check the ambush every two or three times in a day. The traps does not have to be hundred percent deadly every time. If it is then it would be better if it dead immediately if not then you do not want it to suffer right.

When new activity is spotted, you should note where the location is. So when you return from in your shed with hunting tools, you would know where to start. The hard part is finding those tunnels. Find a mound and under it is probably the tunnel. There is no exact machine to locate where exactly the passage is located.

When all is done and you need to pull your bait out then be careful with it. Remember for next time as to where the passage was. Possibility might be that it could still be there but just not visible. If it got filled back again then open it again and finish the work by looking for the rest of the tunnel system.

After discovering the passage, you have to fill it back the button until it was level with gopher tunnel. This will help by not giving it a place to drop their dirt. They will have to come out and push its dirt up. To solve this, you can also fill inside the hole as much as you can so you could catch that pests.
