Exploring Different Buenos Aires Vacation Packages

By Richard Foster

When it comes to travel whether foreign or domestic, there are a lot of places to visit. When it comes to South America, there are a number of different Buenos Aires vacation packages. The city, first established in 1536 by Pedro de Mendoza with additional portions added in 1580 by Juan de Garay, has become a popular destination for honeymooners and tourists.

In 2010, the census reflected that 2,891,082 citizens lived in the city with 15,594,420 living in the greater metropolitan area. Buenos Aires is located on the Southeastern coast and continues to be the biggest city in all of Argentina. While this is the case, navigating in the city is fairly easy due the rebuild and reconstruction which took place a few years ago.

The city is not part of the larger province or capital rather an autonomous city ran by local city government and officials. For, in 1880, the city was removed from the province after several attempts to gain acceptance and approval. As such, following a long period of infighting, the city limits were modified to incorporate Belgrano and Flores, two areas which have become vibrant neighborhoods.

The city is one of a number of top tourist destinations in Argentina. For, the area is well known for preserving original European and gothic architecture, some of which can be rather eclectic. In addition, the city has a vibrant and rich cultural life as shown by recent participation in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, the 2018 G20 Summit, two venues which hosted the 1978 FIFA World Cup and the Pan American Games in 1951.

The city is diverse and multicultural when it comes to ethnic and religious groups, people and language. For, while the Native language is Spanish, millions of immigrants have resettled in the area, thus bringing a number of other languages to the area. Whereas, the number of affinity, interest and support groups in the city often changes on an ongoing basis.

When it comes to politics and religion, Buenos Aires has always been more liberal than other provinces to the northwest. For, the city has always been known for holding a more liberal and free ranging ideology, free-trade and exploring foreign ideas. Whereas, other provinces have always held a more Catholic and nationalistic approach to social and political issues.

Argentina's history, like most countries if a mixed bag. For, the tension between different factions can be traced all the way back to the federalists-centralist conflicts in the 19th century. While Buenos Aires sent a number of troops to gain acceptance and approval, most missions failed and only resulted in violent clashes which only perpetuated the problem. In fact, it was this action which resulted in the city becoming autonomous, a result which according to locals, appears to have been the best possible outcome.

Regardless of past history, immigrants from Italy and Spain helped to create a city which has become one with a vibrant downtown art scene. For, Buenos Aires now host the Colon Theater, one of the world's top opera venues and has also become one of the most important with regards to theatre, cinema, television and radio. While originally located on the main avenues built at the dawn of the century, a construction and redevelopment boom reshaped the downtown area and much of the city between 1945 and 1980, a boom which has aided the city in gaining the popularity it has today.
