The Case Of Disappearing Forests And Woodlands

By Martha Mitchell

In its early stage of existence, human beings heavily relied on forests for something to eat. The man was not the only resident as there were several other creatures that roamed the landscape. Everything man needed could be found in the thickets. Several plants and herbs grew on this planet. Towering above these is the magnificent tree. You can make your home by planting one and refer to Tree Consultation Madison NJ.

Nature has generously provided man with most of the things that he needs. From its earliest existence until the modern times, trees have played a major part in almost all human endeavors. Before the dawn of technology, this was used to produce fire to ward off animals and keep warm at night. The fire also provided light and was used to cook food.

As humans learned how to make tools and use them, structures soon appeared on the landscape. These were totally made of tree parts of which the forests had plenty of. From then on wood became the basic material for building houses even until the discovery of mud bricks. It is quite ironic that this resource is slowly vanishing as a result of human activity.

Wood is a wonder material that can be used in making things as small as a toothpick and something as large as a sailing ship. Thought it is no longer used extensively in modern construction, it still is utilized for cornices, baseboards, and other wood decoration. No other resource has served the needs of man from its humble beginning until modern times.

Large scale logging operations have denuded the forests. Vast tracts of what was once woodlands have been converted it agricultural, residential, commercial, and industrial estates. Gone are the days when of the great forests, the price to pay for progress. It was just recently that nations have joined hands in protecting the remaining virgin forests on earth.

Trees are very important in contributing to the air quality that permeates around the world. These are very extraordinary pollutant absorbers anywhere you are on this planet. There have been studies that point out how these are very detrimental to the health of the environment, including the people who are in it. Luckily the world is now very much aware and conscious of environmental issues.

The process of photosynthesis makes trees a first class carbon dioxide eliminator. These plants actually breathe it. It is now recognized as a natural pollution cleaning machine caused by human greed which has resulted in the poor air quality that we now breathe. Such activities like tree planting are sponsored by companies and are becoming a very popular way of returning back to nature what was taken from it.

Soil erosion is the direct result of forest denudation. Without the roots that prevent soil from moving during heavy rainfall, the ground becomes soft and muddy. As the density loosens, it will begin to move gradually gaining strength until it reaches a point that it assumes the qualities of liquid which will find its own level rushing to consume whole villages.

Trees make a heavy impact on the environment. They enhance biodiversity and protect local wildlife inhabitants, including humans. They form a healthy medium for a healthy food chain as various insects, wildlife, and invertebrates that rely on it. An environment that has these magnificent plants are warmer in winter and cooler during summer.
