JEDDAH: In the 19th week positioning round, Saudi Master Baker made its claim to No. 1 official with defending champion Habagat and D’ Barkads as the second and third outright finalists in the Thursday Bowling League 14 th Season at the Bowling City here.
These three waiting finalists will be joined by three more teams to complete the six-team stepladder cast after a knockout game of three handicap series among the remaining six in the starting field of 9 teams.
The positioning round had the look of a preview of the championship matches as the elimination round top three D’ Barkads, Habagat and Saudi Master Baker ended up as At the top three point getters on 31, 30 and 27 points in that order.
Carling Sport Wear was fourth on the night with 23.5 points followed by Spike-GBI 20.5, AL Striker 17, Al Murjana 13, BCT for Yooo 10 and Jem Striker 8.
Using a five-man rotation, D’ Barkads produced the night’s top scorer in Gerry Tano who drilled 688 to go with the 648 by Ed Sardina, 640 by Leo Edejer, 602 by Rudy Valenzuela and 567 by James Galvan.
At Habagat the trio of Rommel Cagampang, Jimmy Aragones and Richard Antonio shot the leading scores of 679, 654 and 608 with Med Ramos and Geo Mangaliman on 602 and 572 in another five-man gambit.
Elimination round topnotcher Saudi Master also stuck with a single set of five players and the top scorer was Gerry Mandanas 644 followed by Mohd Al Amri 621, Rey Feliciano 610, Bandar Al Dossary 605 and team captain Igna Salgado 596.
For Carling Sport Wear Jess Pineda and Edward Butardo showed the way on 621 and 591. The other scorers were Carlos Constantino 591, Andy Yumena with a pair of 191s, Atoi Cruz 191, 219 and Erwin Pallio 150-178.
Near Al Hamwe fired the second-best score of 685 while leading the Spike which also drew 575 and 554 from Ding dela Rosa and Tope Sayson, as well as 180-202 from Rey Beltran, 178-179 from Ruben Grino and 178-179 from Richard Junio.
